Floral water, also known as hydrosol, is the byproduct of the steam distillation process used to extract essential oils from plants. While essential oils are the concentrated aromatic oils that capture the essence of the plant, floral waters (hydrosols) contain a much more diluted, but still aromatic, version of the plant’s properties. They are gentle, water-based solutions that retain some of the plant’s beneficial compounds, such as antioxidants, vitamins, and antimicrobial agents.
